A combination of lifestyle changes and pharmacotherapy can help with the obesity epidemic.

As mentioned earlier in the week in my last post, diabetes prevalence is trending the wrong direction. Obesity and type II diabetes go hand in hand with one another and have significant workplace health and work disability implications. There are numerous tools in the health toolbox to help with obesity and diabetes, many of which focus on lifestyle factors associated with diet, exercise and sleep, as well as readiness for change, that supports sustainable behavior change. Medication is usually not the first line of treatment, and multicomponent behavior-based approaches are frequently used first.
